Cadiz

So sorry that the last posting is of Cadiz. It is out of order and I don't know how to put it back to the beginning of the blog. So......Bob's your uncle!!!

Cadiz and Seville, Spain

Really nice day. Susan and Craig went to Seville on their own. They spent approx. 1hr at the Alcazar. Then they walked around the town and ate lunch at an outdoor cafe. Sandy, Mike, Rick and I travelled to a huge vineyard that makes many different kinds of sherry, vinegar and olive oil. The send it all over the world .We were able to taste all the different drinking sherry's along with Tapas as snacks. I didn't like any of the sherry, Rick thought it was ok, Mike liked it and Sandy liked the cream sherry. Then we spent a few hours traveling the streets of Cadiz. It was a nice relaxing day. Now it is 6:40 pm, your time is12:40, which means we were drinking sherry at 3:00am. What were you all doing at that time? Hmmm?
Rick and Sandy and Mike at Sherry Bodegas, in Cadiz. This is where sherry was made. We tested 4 different kinds of sherry from very dry to very sweet and Tapas

Back to America

Flew from London at 9:05 am today. That's 4:05am in America. Got into Detroit this afternoon. Yesterday was cooler and rainy in England but warmer than here. We haven't had cold weather. Reality.....what a bummer. On the cruise ship, we travelled in total, 4377.6 nautical miles. We ate too many meals, too many sweets, too much pop, water, drinks, too much walking and carting luggage, not enough trivia, too many pictures, not enough really good coffee, not enough time to do and see......and .......I wouldn't have changed one moment of our trip. Except for Friday morning around 4:00am before we left the ship and the ship was listing so far to one side that it gave us the "willies". Hope you enjoyed our trip. It was nice of all of you to come along. Cheerio

Friday....back to England

We got off the ship in Southampton today at 0730. We had a driver pick us up and take us on a tour for the last day in England. First we drove to Stonehenge.Pretty darn cool. Then we went to a cathedral built in the 1200's. There is also a school next to this church, actually it is a small town. where we ran into a group of boys and girls by the church. We then had a great time traveling a couple hrs in the country side where thatched roof cottages were everywhere. We even saw Stings thatched home. The roads are very narrow. In the country many roads are one lane and you have to pull over to the side of the road to let someone pass. Then we stopped in Lacock for lunch. St. George Inn is where we stopped and ate. This is a small town where many of the Harry Potter movies were filmed. The George Inn is hundreds of years old. The roof and the windows are uneven because of the Inns age. After more country traveling we ended up at Windsor Castle and spent the rest of time there. I'm not sure which was better.... Buckingham Palace or Windsor. We ended up at our hotel at nightfall and had dinner. Really what a great end to our vacation. I can't put into words how beautiful the English country side is.

Last night on Princess

Ship is making some big waves. You'll be walking along somewhere and all of a sudden you're swaying to the opposite side of the hallway. We played trivia today and most of us took naps. Have to be off the ship tomorrow at 8:15am. At the end of dinner tonight, all the waiters in the room held up these huge Baked Alaska with a light on it and they all went around the room with the room lights turned down. Everyone was twirling their napkins in the air. The event was fun and very pretty.
Sandy and Maria our room steward. She is from the Philipines and contract is up the middle of November. She took care of us and our room on the ship. Very sweet

Sandy and Mike with the Baked Alaska. There was one for each table
Mike and I earlier in the day at Vines, the wine bar
Rick and Craig and Timmy. Timmy was a waiter in the cocktail bar that we went to before dinner. He is from Thailand. He worked with Elluate the other waiter we had a previous picture of. Timmy and Elluate made our trip. Always fun and smiling and went above and beyond. They both will be missed. Timmy also always new all the peoples names in the lounge and what they like to drink. They were amazing
Mario our waiter for evening meals in the Boticelli dining room and Claudia his helper. We had fun mimicking Mario. He has been with Princess 20 yrs. He talked very soft and many times we had no idea what he was saying. Very good man though, who took care of us well.

Last sea day

We leave tomorrow on Friday. All of us have had a great time but also ready to get back to the real world. We saw a whale yesterday off the ship and many, many dolphins. Will post pictures later today. Hope all of you are well

Leaving Gibralter

When the ship left the sail away gathered on the top of the ship. There was 2000 British waving the union jack flag with patriotic music and Tom Jones music. What a site to see. AMAZING
Rick and Mike and Craig were on top of the ship for the British Sail Away when we were leaving Gibralter. It was quite a site to see. Over 2000 Brits and later on in the cruise we were told instead of 240 Americans, there was more like 160
